Narrative video- Gwen Stefani- Cool

The video is of her meeting the couple and looking back on the past with him.
The couple in the video are seen as the bad people because they are wearing black and have dark hair, whereas Gwen Stefani is wearing lighter colours with light hair.

The video is narrative with some elements of performance.
It is a pop video.
It is present time narrative with cross cutting.

Concept Video- Beyonce- Single ladies

The idea of the video is that the women are independent and don't need men/ a relationship to be happy. There is a lack of colour in this video and the colours used are mainly black, grey and white.
There is a variety of camera angles and shots to make the video more interesting as there isn't much to the video.
The black outfits have been used to make these three women look bold and strong (what the concept of the video is), this also makes them defined and stand out against the white background.


 

Performance video- Rihanna- SOS

This video is mainly focused on Rihanna as it is at the beginning of her career and she wants to get her image across to the public. A variety of angles and movements have been used to give the audience an idea of what this new artist is like and to see what she works best with. Different camera angles and shots have been used to show different aspects of Rihanna to the audience, for example a close-up has been used to show her facial features and expressions whereas a long-shot/mid-shot are used to show her body. These have been used to advertise Rihanna and what she can do.

For our music video I am going to create a narrative video to 'If i were a boy' by Beyonce ft R Kelly. I have decided to create a narrative video because I think it will go well with the song and I am able to interpret both sides of the song through the narration. I will be using a variety of camera shots and angles to show a clear storyline throughout the video. I will also use different editing techniques to make the video more interesting for the audience and to show the different feelings through the song.

I have decided not to do a concept video because the song suits a narrative video to explain how the people are feeling and the emotions shown through the camera shots. I have also decided not to do a performance video because the song is quite slow and would be hard to produce a video of people dancing/ performing to it.
